SERVICE OF RECEPTION FOR IMMIGRANTS

History

On fall 2003, on the initiative of a person sensitized with the problems of the refugees, representatives of the following organizations gathered: Commission Scolaire du Pays-des-Bleuets, Cégep de Saint-Félicien, Carrefour jeunesse-emploi from the county of Roberval, the Town of Saint-Félicien, the CLSC des Près-Bleus, the CLD, the Centre d’alphabétisation , and some people interested by immigration. Thus is formed the Committee Portes Ouvertes sur le Lac. The committee incorporates itself like non-profit-making organization and obtains its charter on December 22, 2003. It adopts general rules to ensure his correct operation.

After two years of hard work and perseverance, Portes Ouvertes sur le Lac opens its doors in the municipality of Saint-Félicien, with a financial so as moral support of the Ministry for Immigration and the Cultural Communities, Table régionale de concertation en immigration, La conférence régionale des Élus, as well as the MRC Domaine-du-Roy. A year after having opened its doors, the organization takes expansion and now offers its services for all the territory of the Lac Saint-Jean. Portes Ouvertes sur Lac can now counts on more than nine (9) major partners and a lot of supporters.
